eOne nabs 'Special Forces' in U.S.
PARIS -- eOne has acquired U.S. distribution privileges to Diane Kruger starrer "Special Forces" from French major StudioCanal. Deal marks eOne's first U.S. theatrical pickup since starting its distribution branch in the usa in August. The pic is going to be launched next spring. It's now been offered in most key areas, many of which were closed at Cannes. Pic has become offered out worldwide except for a couple of areas which will close soon, StudioCanal stated. Occur Afghanistan, our prime-current thriller activates a French journalist who will get kidnapped through the Taliban. Allocated just below $25 million, pic was lensed in Tajikistan, Djibouti and also the French Alps. It marks the feature debut of Stephane Rybojad, an old documentary filmmaker who formerly helmed docus around the special forces. Kruger plays opposite Benoit Magimel, Denis Menochet, Raphael Personnaz and Djimon Hounsou. Pic is created by Paris-based up-and-coming shingle Easy Company. Brought by prexy David Reckziegel, eOne Films The United States intends to release 12-15 films theatrically within the U.S. each year.
