Showtime Hires Amy Israel for Original Programming Team
Amy Israel has been named senior vp of original programming at Showtime Networks. Israel is a veteran of the film industry, most recently executive producing director Andrew Niccol's In Time starring Justin Timberlake. Before that she served as executive vp of production at New Regency where she was responsible for acquisition and development. She also held positions at Miramax Films and Paramount Vantage,where she oversaw development and production of No Country For Old MenandThere Will Be Blood. Israel will report to Gary Levine, Showtime's executive vp of original programming. "As more and more film actors, writers, directors and producers want to work at Showtime, it makes perfect sense to hire a creative exec from the feature world," Levine said in a statement. "Amy has done great work in the indie-film world and we are thrilled for her to bring her strong relationships with distinctive filmmakers to Showtime. Amy's taste, talent, charisma and experience make her a perfect complement to our existing senior creative staff." The announcement comes on the heels ofTrisha Cardoso's appointment as executive vp of corporate communications, replacing Richard Licata, who left the network to re-join former Showtime entertainment chief Robert Greenblatt to NBC.
